RESTAURANT DESIGN

The Wholesome Table Salcedo Branch

In 2014, a restaurant called The Wholesome Table introduced organic food to the mainstream market of Metro Manila. Their first branch in BGC was the proof of concept that people were looking for a healthier alternative to casual dining.

Challenge
  1. How should this branch express itself to show the companies growth, but not deviate too far?
  2. What have we learned from the pilot branch that needs to be improved here?
  3. Is there a new experience this branch can offer that is relevant to its community, the restaurant being in a business district?

The Process

We started eating healthier (not kidding). Being exposed to the Wholesome Table actually made us more conscious. So from here we understood what they wanted to offer.

Working with Craftsmith Guild (who conceptualized the first branch), we were able to identify the palette that made the brand distinct. From their we organized these elements into a coherent design language, and that allowed this branch to stand alone while still being part of the story.

Working with the management team, we were able to identify bottle necks from the previous restaurant and made improvements to this one. The information we gathered set the standard for future branches.

The concept was a farm ambiance to compliment the freshness of the ingredients, and add emphasis to organic food. The success of the first branch paved their path to growth.

A consistent design language makes the restaurant easily recognizable, not to mention they serve really good food. Our challenge for every new site is to stay within the narrative while pushing details to keep the brand fresh.
